Jehovah's Witnesses Leading the Way to Tolerance?!?

Many people have a few things to say about Jehovah's Witnesses, including myself after my parents became one while I was in school. But I found this video on-line and it holds true to their belief and holds a different and positive view of JW's.

Discovery Channel's Outrageous Outreach

For Shark Week, the Discover Channel contact a firm to help market the annual show. What they came up with is one of the ingenious and scary marketing campaigns I've ever seen. Showing how companies are using Facebook to learn more about you. Get into the video below.

The Drought Is Over

This is probably way too much information for some of you but .... well, I just feel like sharing. For some reason, that is beyond my understanding, it had been two years since the last time that I've bottomed for someone. If I had to think of a reason, it would have to be that it normally really isn't my favorite sexual thing to do. However, there are a times when I want it.... and I want it BAD. Now, I understand that in a relationship I may be expected to be.. ummm... equally yoked (versatile) and have no problem with that since I will be turned on anyway by my lover. But outside of that, a person really has to get me turned on for me to consider it and since I typically don't like "hooking up", well, there you go. I think that overall, since I'm not a power bottom, I don't want it to be all about me being the bottom. I need someone else there or to switch to take off the stress when I can't go on. LOL

Well, anyway a couple of weeks ago, I met this guy at the club and we really hit it off. He is smart, genuine, educated, tall, dark and handsome. He is absolutely what I envision as a lover, although you can't tell that from my last several ex's. So long story short, we explored each other sexually and I was ready. I did my thing and enjoyed every moment of it. The problem is when I was ready to flip the script, he was all like.... "I don't bottom". WTF!!! I knew it was too good to be true. He still is a nice guy and we will continue to stay in contact but it definitely has me questioning the whole relationship thing with him. He has suggested that we entertain the idea of having an open relationship for me. Meaning he will be with me but when I have the urge or need to be a top, that I go and find someone. Honestly, I'm not feeling that though.

Bloom Spring 2010

Last night I attended an event entitled Bloom. This had to be one of the best events that I've been to in a very long time. I'll start with the venue, the Arena. It was the perfect size for the event with enough seating and very conducive for an energetic crowd. There were several cascading levels that made it so that there was a not a bad view anywhere.

The crowd was fantastic, filled with great-vibin', non-dramatic people who were all about dancing and enjoying life. Many of them are black, professional, SGL men and women. I'm talking about recording artists, professors, entrepreneurs, brokers, etc. It was predominently an older set with an average age probably in the 30's. There were male and female go-go or burlesque dancers who were covered in tribal paint spread throughout the club. Live African drumming to the tribal house beats being played added to the experience. I have to add, the music was awesome. I also loved the many African dancers bringing their flare to the dance floor.

There was also live model painting, that's right. Models were on the stage and being painted with tribal paint while they posed. There were videos being played on the walls, many of which I have to find because they really caught my interest. You know I'm a video geek. I definitely plan on being at the next event this summer.

To Cheat Or Not To Cheat...

I started this on my FB page but wanted to go into more detail. Last night a friend and I were talking and the subject of people who cheat came up. And he asked me my feelings on it. My response was that I don't understand grown people who cheat especially in the NYC area. First of all, no matter what you are looking for, you can find it here. If you want a one-eyed hooker with a wooden leg, five strands of hair on her left side, three nipples and talks like Barry White, YOU CAN FIND IT. So if you want to have a polyamorous relationship, you can find another so easily. If you want to just sleep around, you definitely can find it. So why mislead anyone?!?

I also think part of the problem is that some people are not even sure what they want themselves. I believe that before you go into a relationship with someone, that you should have somewhat of a clue of what you want. Now, I understand that we as humans are constantly evolving. Our ideas, feelings, etc about certain things including ourselves change. But I believe that grown people should be willing to communicate what's going on with them. So if you are in a relationship and you started off really wanting monogamy but after a while, you start to change, it is up to you to bring this forward to your partner, come what may.

The other part is that I think that sometimes people just haven't embraced or accepted that part of themselves. For example, because they know that if you like sleeping around, people tend to label you a "ho". So because they don't like that label, they try to force themselves to conform to something that isn't intrinsically them. This causes them to war within themselves and therefore causing hurt to themselves as well as others. I mean after all, if you are warring within yourself, what will you do to me?

Now, granted, this doesn't cover every reason as to why people cheat but I believe these are two of the most basic reasons. So sound off, what do you think?

Essence Seeks Gay Parents

We frequently hear talk about how positive gay images are not portrayed in the African American community. Well, here is an opportunity to help change that. I just received this email and am posting it with the hopes that you forward and share it with others as well. We really need an overwhelming response to this.

ESSENCE magazine is looking to PROFILE a gay African-American couple who have adopted Black children separately or together and have blended them into a loving family.
If you fit that profile or know anyone and think they'll be good, let me know by 10 am. Wednesday, Feb. 3rd.
THANK YOU!

Lake Placid Ski Trip

Sorry that I've been MIA for a minute but things have been extremely busy the last month. But along the way, I was able to go to Lake Placid for a skiing weekend. It was wonderful. It was my first time ever being on snow skis and I loved it. Also took a ride on the bobsled. Of course there were two professionals that drove it but it was on an Olympic track. So it was very exciting.

Here is a video of one of my trips down the mountain. Sorry that the video goes sideways and is a bit shaky but I literally just attached my cell phone to my jacket
